How's your Ramadhan so far? Alhamdulillah, mine was good so far. What you had today for berbuka? I had my own home made Mee Goreng and Samosa with Ribena. Anyway, I'm going back to my home town soon, to celebrate eid. Alhamdulillah, even though I rarely went back to kampong whenever i have semester break or any school holidays, still I am able to go back when it comes to celebrating raya. I couldn't imagine celebrating Eid here, in Shah Alam without any of my close relatives. However, during 2008 - that was my first year here, I celebrate raya in Johor Bharu . Flight fares got soo expensive at the last minute, and I have to celebrate Eid in Johor Bharu. But, Thank God that time.. my closest cousin was there in her brother's house. So, it kinda fun a bit. But, I couldn't imagine Raya in Shah Alam. Even to Raya Haji pun still the road soo sunyi and we got nothing to do than sitting at home and watching TV. Anyway, ever since that (2008's incident) I am so alert about any promotions from either MAS or Airasia. I will make sure 2 months or 3 months before Ramadhan I got my Raya Flight booked.
I don't know you guys, but for me.. Raya is a very significant and important event in my life. I can see everyone in my family feel the same. We are so eager to sit together and have nice food, clothes and so on. I like the excitement while waiting for Raya, especially those 10-5 days before Raya. Everyone seems so busy with decorating their house, baking cookies, buying this and that. Even though, I can see that they are having their own migraine(s) and headache(s) thinking of how much money needed to make sure everything prepared before the 1st Syawal. Yaa, that's the magic of Syawal, Eid , Raya or whatever you called it. Regardless your social status, family background, Financial status and whatnot(s), Raya still the day we have been waiting for. My mom once said to me and my siblings when we were so young and small, "Raya and Ramadhan are both full of barakah, even if you're so poor.. still Allah SWT will give you some rezeki to celebrate them" and yes, it is indeed true.
We might not realized it, but bear in your mind. You always think that you cannot have nice food the whole 30 days of Ramadhan, because the balance you have from your monthly salary is only enough for 10 days food.. But, at the eleventh day of Ramadhan itself you still have something to eat. It is simple and easy, guys. You might pinjam money from your friends, get allowances from your company, get your ptptn loan or whatever... but, Allah is the mastermind of all. He planned it for you. Things won't happened without His blessed.... :) That's why I heard someone said this.. "when Allah SWT is giving you problems or trials, that means He misses your cries and sigh. He want you to come and see Him, because that's when you remember Allah SWT the most. But, doesn't mean that when you have what you want, you simply forget your Creator "
Be grateful guys, for what we have today. For it's always been one of our dream before. Don't feel so proud of having good things today, remember those unfortunate kids, old folks and so on. Don't materialize Raya and Ramadhan, which means you make your ramadhan and raya as a medium of getting something, like new hand phone, new handbags and whatever it is. Yeah, if you had enough money buy whatever necessary like new baju kurung, baju melayu and all but, you don't have to get soo excited about everything because it is not good. Be a person, who have everything that everyone always dreamt of but still you are not too stingy not-to-share-it. Be humble and be grateful are those two qualities I want to improve in myself for this 1432's Ramdhan and Raya, InsyaAllah.
